1:1 Parenting

Support

When you feel like you’ve tried everything.

Usually by the time someone comes to me for 1:1 support, something has been going on for a while.

You’ve tried different things. You thought it was getting better. Then it happens again and you’re thinking, right, what am I meant to do now?

That’s where 1:1 can really help.

Because actually, I don’t just want to know what your child is doing. I want to understand your child. I want to understand what’s happening around them and why this particular thing keeps coming up.

Once we know that, we’ve got something useful to work with.

There is always a reason

This is probably the biggest thing I teach.

Children don’t just behave in a certain way for no reason. There is something going on.

Now, you might not know what it is. You might not agree with it. You might be thinking, this makes absolutely no sense to me.

That’s okay.

The point is that when we understand what’s underneath the behaviour, the way you respond changes.

And very often that is the bit that has been missing.

“We came to Josie after an exhausting and difficult two years with our 11-year-old son. He was really struggling with behavioural and emotional issues both in school and at home, and as a result we were at the end of our tether. With Josie’s guidance, we transformed our family dynamic from one of frustration to a positive, happier environment. We really couldn’t have done it without her.”

Tell me what it’s really like

You don’t need to make anything sound better for me.

If you lost it, tell me. If you have no idea what to do anymore, tell me that.

Honestly, that is much more useful.

I’ve worked with families for years and I’ve heard a lot. I’m not there to decide whether you’re a good parent. I’m there to help you work out what is happening and what you can do differently.

Sometimes I’ll spot something you haven’t seen because you’re right in the middle of it.

That’s normal. It’s very hard to see a pattern when you’re living it every day.

“We found Josie when we needed support with our eldest around skin picking after 5 years of trying every strategy we knew or researched. Josie gave clear, detailed guidance and helped us lay the foundations for our parenting now but also our future relationships with our children. We went to Josie to solve our daughter’s skin picking but have found the support and guidance she has given us invaluable.”

How it works

We start by talking properly about what’s going on.

I’ll ask questions. Quite a lot of questions, usually, because I want to understand the whole thing rather than just give you an answer for what happened yesterday.

Then we work out what you can change.

You go away and try it. We see what happens.

If it works, brilliant. If it doesn’t, we look again.

I’m not trying to make you dependent on me. Actually, it’s the opposite.

I want you to get to the point where you understand your child well enough that you know what to do for yourself.

That’s always the goal.

HEAR FROM PARENTS

What parents say…

“I absolutely love working with Josie. My life has genuinely improved in all areas since working with her! I originally started working with her as a parent coach where she supported and helped me navigate lots of tricky parenting moments. She is so kind and warm with a brilliant sense of humour, alongside being a wonderful listener without any judgement. I now work with her as an NLP coach too and I can honestly say the two complement each other so well. I love having the one-to-one focus with her, alongside our parenting sessions. They go hand in hand and I can’t thank her enough. I would highly recommend her to anyone!”

SOFIA

“Josie is a fantastic coach; everything she suggested did wonders for our family. She is concise, she has tonnes of examples and she is very understanding. I couldn't recommend her highly enough.”

VALERIE

“Josie is an extremely knowledgeable, passionate and personable professional, who has changed my son’s school and home life for the better with her strategies for both myself and his teachers with our new approaches in response to his challenging behaviours.”
