Support for Schools
Sometimes you just need another pair of eyes.
There are times when a child is struggling at school and everybody is trying, but you still can’t quite work out what’s going on.
That’s usually when I can be useful.
I come into school and spend time properly watching the child across their day.
Not just the difficult lesson.
I want to see the transitions, what happens at break, how they are with other children, when things start to go wrong and when actually they’re absolutely fine.
Because quite often the useful bit is somewhere you weren’t expecting it to be.
I’m not coming in to tell teachers how to teach
That’s really important.
Teachers know their classrooms. Parents know their children.
I’m there to look at what is happening around one child and see whether there’s a pattern that is getting missed because everyone is so close to it.
Sometimes it’s something tiny.
A transition that is too rushed. A child who is exhausted by the afternoon. The way an instruction is being heard. Something happening with another child.
And once you spot it, you can usually start doing something useful with it.
“Josie and her positive parenting methods are game changing and enlightening in equal measure. We refer to Josie as our ‘parenting safety net’ who regularly grounds us through her Inner Circle conversations and supportive community. There is no judgement with Josie and her ability to explain her methods using real-life examples makes them tangible and easier to implement.”

School observation
If you know something isn’t working but you’re not quite sure why, I can observe the child across the school day and feed back what I’m seeing.
The point isn’t to give the child another label.
It’s to understand them better.
“We've been working with Josie for a while now in the Inner Circle and she is fantastic. Empathetic and understanding of the challenges of parenting, she's changed the way we approach parenting completely and for the better. Her advice is always practical and spot on. I am a better parent with her in my corner and I would recommend her to any parent who is feeling overwhelmed.”

SCHOOL & FAMILY SUPPORT
Sometimes what’s happening at school is part of something bigger and it helps to work with the family as well.
That can be really helpful when home and school have ended up seeing the situation differently.
I’m not interested in deciding who is right.
I want everyone around the child to understand what’s going on and know what we can do next.
And whatever we come up with has to work in real life.
If it isn’t practical in a busy classroom on a Monday morning, there isn’t much point.
