Calm, Confident Parenting

Starts Here.

If mornings have become a battle, nobody seems to be listening, school is getting difficult, or you simply have a feeling that something isn’t quite working, you’re in the right place.

Hi, I’m Josie.

I’m a parenting specialist, Montessori-trained and mum of three, with over 18 years’ experience supporting children, parents and families.

My work spans education and children’s services through Achieving for Children, alongside private family support and international work with families.

I help parents understand what’s really going on beneath their child’s behaviour, so they can feel clearer, more confident and better equipped to know what to do next.

Sometimes you don’t need another parenting tip.

You’ve read the books.

You’ve listened to the podcasts.

You’ve tried being firmer. Softer. More consistent. Less reactive.

And you may still be wondering:

Am I doing the right thing?

Because when you’re right in the middle of family life, it can be incredibly difficult to see what is actually going on.

You need someone you trust to help you make sense of it.

Someone who understands children. Someone who understands parents. And someone who can help you work out what to do next.

Behaviour is Communication

Sometimes behaviour is the thing you notice first, but it isn’t always the real issue.

There may be something going on at home, at school or emotionally that hasn’t quite been picked up yet.

Understanding what is behind the behaviour doesn’t mean letting everything go.

Children still need clear boundaries. But when you understand what is driving it, it becomes much easier to know how to respond - and that is often when things start to shift.

You don’t have to have all the answers

Parenting has a lovely habit of making you feel like you’ve finally got something sorted, then presenting you with something completely new.

You don’t need to make yourself sound better or pretend everything is fine.

You can tell me what’s actually happening.

I’ve worked with hundreds of families over the years, privately, alongside schools and in family homes in the UK and abroad.

I’m also a mum of three.

I’m not a perfect parent and my children are definitely not perfectly behaved.

So there’s no judgement here - and you’re very unlikely to shock me.

The easiest place to start?

For most parents, I’d start with The Inner Circle.

It gives you regular access to me, my experience and the way I think through parenting problems.

You can bring the things you’re unsure about, join the live Q&As and hear how I work through the situations other parents bring to me too.

There’s also a lovely private community of parents who understand what family life is actually like.

But the real value is knowing that when something comes up, you know exactly where to take it.

You don’t have to spend weeks wondering whether you’re doing the right thing.

Parenting isn’t about getting everything right

Of course you want the mornings to be easier.

You want fewer arguments. You want your child to listen. You want to know whether you are handling things well.

But underneath all of that is something even more important. You want to understand your child.

You want them to feel understood by you And you want to stay connected to them as they grow.

You will not get every parenting decision right. Nobody does. But when you understand what is happening beneath the behaviour, it becomes much easier to respond with confidence instead of constantly questioning yourself. That is the work I help parents do. And if you would like me in your corner, The Inner Circle is a very good place to start.
